Cat on a Hat

Everyone knows that any practicing witch never leaves home without her black cat and In this case it hitches a ride on top of her mini witch’s hat.
In late 2010, I had just begun to design hat patterns and started out designing mini hats. At Halloween that year I designed this fun little witch hat fascinator with a cat that climbed up to peer over the top of the hat. This is such a fun little witch hat, and I decided to offer a download pattern and tutorial in plenty of time for this Halloween.

To make the cat stand out, you have to cover the top of the hat with a contrast color. I used orange fabric on the cone shaped crown of the hat.

It took me awhile to draw a cat that would climb up the hat. I used flat backed doll/teddy bear black noses in two sizes for the eyes and nose of the cute little cat to give it stand out features. I drew the mouth with a black marker.

This photo shows you how the cat sits on the top of the hat and wraps around. I glued flat backed orange cabochon stones all around the brim outer edge after I added the pleated ribbon braid.

The Spider Witch

Some witches love and collect spiders and this hat is for that kind of witch.

Just because a witch likes spiders, doesn’t mean she is a boring mean old witch so I covered the top of her hat with hot pink satin and the upper and under brim with glitter black felt. I used black French braid on the upper and under edge of the brim and after adding the cat I added sequin spiders climbing up the crown to the cat.

The spiders are all over the back of the hat as well as the front. It’s now ready to wear when you have your next witches do or Halloween party.

Passionate Purple Witch

Witches can be quite passionate and those that are, purple is their favorite color.

This time her little black cat is riding on a hat covered in purple satin and sequins. This is a great hat for a very sexy witch.

This witch’s hat screams out both passion and purple.

You can download the pattern and photographic tutorial with instructions to make your own witch’s hat $10.00.
