Giraffe Fur Cape & Hat

Back to my world of millinery and hat making with this gorgeous set of cape with matching hat. This time I chose a bold patterned short pile fur with a giraffe inspired design all over. The colors are striking in black, tan and golden tan and will compliment most hair and skin colors. The hat is one I designed about a year ago as an extension of my military/stewardess style pillbox hat. It allows me to use two types and colors of fabric and make this hat taller for a striking and bold vision.

If you like to look the part of Hollywood, then this set will allow you to show off your unique style.

I lined the cape with black and double stitched around the neckline for more tailoring. The fur has a wave design running through it and when light hits the waves, it changes the colors from dark to light.

My studio lights show the waves in this photo. It gives the fabric a very unique look when you change from dark to light in any room.

I wanted to show you how the hat looks on two hair colors and styles. It is very flattery for most faces because there is no brim to hide your face.

I called this style of hat double military style because I make and cover the two pieces separately and then put them together. This allows me to use two types of fabric and in this case the upper part is covered in black faux suede and the lower part in the matching fur fabric. The bottom part of the hat wraps around the upper part and laps over.

I changed the lighting so you can see the overlapping lower part of the hat and the button detail. I used black French braid to edge the fur fabric.

This photo of the inside of the hat shows you how it is made in two parts and lined in black crepe satin.

This side view shows you how the hat curves over the head. You can wear this hat straight or to one side if you are feeling a little cocky.

If you want to see a different version I made of this hat and see how the hat pieces look before they are covered, click on this link
